The Muskoka Watershed Council initiated a Best Practices Program in 2005 with the aim of working with a variety of public and private organizations to develop and distribute locally relevant public education materials. The program has included brochures, newspaper articles, website information, and public service announcements on partnering radio stations.  To see past brochures, visit the Muskoka Watershed Council website at http://www.muskokaheritage.org/watershed/watershedindicators.asp.

This year, at the request of municipal planning and public works departments, the Muskoka Watershed Council has developed a brochure and related public awareness campaign on stormwater management for homeowners.  The brochure will assist residents in meeting the requirements under the new Lake System Health Program and will cover the basics of stormwater, principles for managing it, and how to manage stormwater on your property, with a focus on shoreline properties.

Thank you for your ongoing support in protecting the health of our watersheds.

Sincerely,

Deborah Cumming
